Blanch returns for Wildcats
Wakefield coach John Kear has brought young hooker James Davey in to his squad for the clash with St Helens on Friday.
Davey has been brought in as cover following the departure of Terry Newton, who was handed a two year suspension from the sport for doping offences, with the Wildcats subsequently cancellins his contract.
Also in the Wakefield squad for Friday’s clash is Damien Blanch, who broke a bone in his hand in the Boxing Day friendly against Leeds.
Kear said: “We have trained well this week and go to St Helens in a good frame of mind, and confident in the players we have selected.
“St Helens are always a challenge when they play at the GPW Recruitment Stadium and we shall have to be on our best form to stand a chance of taking the points.
“The return of Damien Blanch gives me some options in our back division while James Davey is one of several very promising young players challenging for a place in the first-team squad.”
