Bob Beswick retains Newcastle Thunder captaincy for 2021
Ireland international Bob Beswick will remain captain of Newcastle Thunder for 2021, the club have confirmed.
The 36-year-old hooker took on the captaincy role ahead of last season before the season was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Beswick has made more than 400 career appearances for Wigan, Widnes, Halifax, Leigh, Toronto and Newcastle. He has earned 25 caps for Ireland.

Beswick said: “I’m very honoured to get the chance to captain Newcastle again this year.
“I’m excited to work alongside Eamon (O’Carroll) and Dennis (Betts) again as we step up to the Championship.
“We’ve brought some quality players in with Super League and NRL experience and if we continue to work hard I’m confident we can compete against some very tough opposition this year.
“To walk out in front of the fans again at Kingston Park is something I’m sure everyone is looking forward to doing.”
