Bousquet appeal dismissed, Webb and Westwood banned

Catalan Dragons player Julian Bousquet has had his appeal against a four match ban dismissed by the RFL Disciplinary Panel.

Bousquet appealed against the severity of the sentence imposed on him after he was found guilty of committing a Grade D, dangerous shoulder charge offence on Salford City Reds half-back Theo Fages during their Super League Round Two fixture.

Bousquet will miss Catalan’s next three games as a result, having already served one game of his suspension during their Round Three fixture against Warrington Wolves on Friday February 15.

Catalan teammate Brent Webb was also suspended for one match after he appeared before the RFL Disciplinary Panel.

Webb was found guilty of committing a Grade B, one-on-one fighting offence on Warrington’s Ben Westwood during Friday’s game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Westwood has also been banned for one game after being found guilty of committing the same Grade B, one-on-one striking offence from the same incident.

Both players were fined £300 by the panel.

Bradford Bulls prop Nick Scruton has avoided suspension after he appeared before the Disciplinary Panel charged with the Grade B offence of striking with the shoulder during Saturday’s game against Castleford Tigers.

The panel judged the initial contact to have been legal and after taking Scruton’s excellent disciplinary record into consideration deemed suspension unnecessary. He was fined £300.

Catalan Dragons player Leon Pryce has also avoided suspension after he submitted an Early Guilty Plea in relation to a Grade A, striking with the leg offence. Pryce loses the right to submit a further EGP for 12 months.
