Brodie Croft turning into ‘one of the best half-backs’ in Super League says coach
Salford head coach Paul Rowley believes Brodie Croft is becoming one of the best half-backs in the Super League competition.
The 24-year-old has produced 14 try assists so far in 2022, the joint-fifth most alongside Catalans half-back Josh Drinkwater.
He has also crossed for one try, with nine clean breaks.
Croft signed with the Red Devils ahead of the 2022 season on an initial two-year deal. However, the AJ Bell Stadium side might want to tie down their star playmaker beyond his current contract, having impressed in his debut season in England.
Rowley was full of praise for his half-back following the club’s 32-24 victory over Warrington, having snatched victory from 24-8 behind in the second half at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Brodie Croft praised by Salford boss following Warrington win
“Brodie Croft is turning into one of the best halves, if not the [best], in the Super League,” Rowley said in his post-match press conference.
“He’s just growing his game. He’s a young man who has come from two massive clubs in Melbourne and Brisbane.
“His leadership qualities have just grown throughout and he leads from his actions. By being consistent in his actions, people look at him for inspiration in his words now as well.
“He’s a really good character to have in the club. I’m not going to say we’re lucky to have him because I think it’s something that fits well.
“He’s enjoyed being at our club and we enjoy having him. He’s fantastic. I think if you look at all the stats, he’s in the top five for everything; runs, engagements, try assists, pretty much everything.
“We’ve got some fantastic halves [in Super League], but personally I wouldn’t swap him for anybody.”
