Broncos reeling from Hodges blow
Brisbane star Justin Hodges could be sidelined for up to six months after suffering an achillies injury during training.
The 27-year-old Queensland and Australia centre suffered the injury during Broncos pre-season training at the weekend.
Hodges will undergo surgery on the injury which occurred when he fell awkwardly during a drill at the University of Queensland.
The injury could see Hodges struggling to make the final state of Origin clash in Sydney on July 7.
Brisbane coach Ivan Henjak said the timing of Hodges’ injury would give him time to prepare a contingency plan.
“It’s not real flash for us, but the positive is that it’s happened in the pre-season and we’ve got plenty of time to look to all the options,” Henjak told AAP.
“We’ve got three trials to work things out.”
It is expected that Israel Folau will step into the right centre position with Steve Michaels the favourite to slot into the left centre.
