Busy Masters start to September
The National Masters Festival takes place on this Saturday 9th September at Blackpool’s Stanley Park with registration at 12 noon.
All Masters, new and old, are very welcome to take part in what promises to be the biggest festival of the year.
However, the first weekend of September was also a busy one.
Last Saturday the Great Britain Masters tourists met at Wigan St Jude’s to receive their tour kit and to play against the Baht’ats, the team founded by the 2009 GB tourists.
The 2017 GB Tourists were presented with their playing shirts by Scotland Rugby League Head Coach Steve McCormack. The game showed the very best of fast, open and skilful Masters Rugby League from two teams of very experienced Masters.
On the Sunday, the spotlight moved to Featherstone Rovers where not only was there an important Super 8’s game but also a Masters game between 6TK Methley Warriors and Hull Dockers.
With the Hull side bringing a squad of 20 players, including Green shorter Geoff Kealty, and Methley having a squad of 18, the game was certain to be fast paced with the unlimited interchange needed to give everyone good game time. The game did not disappoint! The four new Masters on debut were very impressed and really enjoyed the game. One or two lads who came to watch were also impressed and will no doubt be finding a club to sign with!
