Cabramatta 9s confirms diverse line-up
The organisers of the Cabramatta Nines have added six new teams to the line-up of countries competing at this Saturday’s tournament.
Held at Cabramatta Leagues Club, teams representing South America, the Middle East and Europe will battle compete at the New Era Stadium.
A total prize pot of Aus$15,000 is up for grabs, with 32 teams confirmed as participating.
“It’s our biggest day of the year,” Cabramatta Leagues Club football administrator Bob Erskine said.
“It’s a full day for any spectator to enjoy with games non-stop all day.
“This is our 14th year of the tournament, so as long as the teams keep coming back we’ll keep hosting it.”
Teams representing El Salvador, Malta, Ireland, Canada, South Africa, Niue, Chile, Greek Australia, Serbia and Thailand will participate.
There are also regional teams for spectators to enoy, with Combined Eastern Europe, Latin Heat, Amerika Samoa and the Ozzy Cooks also taking part.
Domestic teams from various NSW Rugby League competitions and interstate teams will be there too.
A physical disability rugby league demonstration game will also take place on Field 1 at 4.40pm.
The tournament kicks off at 9.20am on Saturday, featuring 76 fast-paced games played over three fields.
