Capital gains for Broncos and Skolars
Last Friday on a cold, clear day in the heart of the City of London the capital’s two professional Rugby League teams, London Skolars and London Broncos contested the 9th Annual Capital Challenge at the grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company. This year’s event was sponsored by NASADAQ OMX Global Indexes, Boost ETP and CAPITA.
Prior to the game six primary schools from North London took part in the Pcubed sponsored school’s challenge on the HAC’s hallowed turf and the finalists were presented with their medals by special guest of honour, Jason Robinson, at half-time in the main match.
Before the Capital Challenge match Skolars hosted a luncheon at the venue, which drew a record attendance of nearly 250 guests who wined and dined and were thoroughly entertained by Jason Robinson, who enthralled the assembled guests with a lively and interesting Q & A session.
Guests also had sight of the Rugby League World Cup Trophy, which was on display and featured in countless photos throughout the afternoon taken by lunch guests and fans attending the match.
The match itself attracted record numbers and was the first pre-season run out for both clubs. Whilst Broncos ran out comfortable winners by 6-74 it was a useful exercise for both coaches with Skolars having only just returned to pre-season training.
Commenting on the event Skolars General Manager had this to say: “The Capital Challenge has grown year on year and this year we have seen record ticket sales as well as record numbers attending the pre-match luncheon.”
“Jason Robinson proved to be a big hit with everyone and I’m sure he must be tired from the endless photos he posed for with fans and the countless autographs he signed.”
“The event is now a firm fixture in the London Sporting calendar and it gives Rugby League fans in London the chance to take in the sport they love in a unique venue and they get to witness the action up close and personal from the touchline. I’d like to thanks our event sponsors, NASDAQ OMX Global Indexes, CAPITA and Boost ETP for their support and help in making this the most successful Capital Challenge to date.”
