Castleford 21-12 Warrington: Jordan Turner double helps Tigers beat Wolves
Jordan Turner scored two tries to help Castleford beat Warrington 21-12 in the final game of the opening round.
Daryl Powell’s Tigers started the game in fine fashion thanks to Oliver Holmes touching down – but Warrington soon hit back through Toby King.
Castleford were dealt a blow midway through the first half as Gareth O’Brien left the field and didn’t return after failing concussion protocol.
The Tigers were impressive with the ball in hand and tries from Niall Evalds and Turner saw them lead 14-4 at the interval.
Former Castleford hooker Daryl Clark pulled one back for Warrington in the 51st minute and they were only six points behind.
Turner got his second of the afternoon on the hour though, with McShane adding a drop goal to put Castleford 21-8 in front.
Blake Austin scored for the Wolves five minutes from time but it wasn’t enough as Castleford finished 21-12 winners at Headingley.
