Castleford move for Carney
Castleford have signed Sydney Roosters winger Justin Carney for next season on a two-year deal.
Carney, 24, becomes the Tigers’ sixth new signing for 2013, following on from the captures of Michael Shenton, Jake Webster, Jamie Ellis, Jordan Tansey and Lee Gilmour.
Coach Ian Millward said: “I’m hugely delighted with the capture of Justin. He’ll perform a number of roles for us on the field as he is multi skilled.
“He will become a crowd pleaser with his robust running and dynamic style. No one will run the ball harder or faster than Justin in Super League in 2013.
“He was pursued by many Super League clubs and thankfully I could call upon the friendship I formed with him at Canberra to get him across the line. He’ll be a major part of us moving forward and it is clear he is excited about being a part of Castleford Tigers in 2013.”
Carney, who played for the Raiders before signing for Sydney in 2011, has scored 15 tries in 37 NRL appearances.
