Castleford 10-50 Salford: Red Devils all but seal spot in play-offs
Salford have have all but secured a spot in the Super League play-offs thanks to a stunning 50-10 win at Castleford.
The win sees Paul Rowley’s side leapfrog Leeds into fifth place in the Super League table on 28 points. Meanwhile, Leeds are sixth on 27 points and Castleford remain in seventh on 26 points.
The Rhinos face Catalans Dragons this evening, whilst Castleford meet Leeds on Saturday in the final game of the regular season on Saturday, with the sixth and final play-off spot up for grabs.
It was the perfect start for Salford, who scored three tries through Marc Sneyd, Ken Sio and Jack Ormondroyd inside 12 minutes. Sneyd converted all three and kicked a penalty goal to put the Red Devils in a 20-0 lead.
Castleford fought their way back into the game midway through the first half, with full-back Jake Mamo scoring their first of the afternoon.
Departing winger Derrell Olpherts pulled another back for the Tigers on the half hour mark. Lee Radford’s trailed trialed 20-10 at the break.

Sneyd added another penalty goal shortly after the second half restart.
Australian forward Shane Wright raced over for a try in the 47th minute before Deon Cross touched down to put the game out of reach for Castleford.
It was all Salford in the second half and they scored further tries through Brodie Croft, Kallum Watkins and Sneyd to wrap up an impressive 50-10 victory at the Jungle.
