Catalans confirm squad numbers

Catalans Dragons have confirmed their first team squad numbers for the 2017 season.

Head coach Laurent Frayssinous insists that there is no particular significance to the numbers, and spectators should not read too much significance into them.

“It’s just numbers,” he said.

“The players named on the team sheet will be chosen by their performances. That’s why I prefer the NRL system, with numbers from 1 to 17 given to the 17 players on the team sheet. But that’s the rule in Super League and I have to go with it.

“We have quality in our squad, with many players able to play at different positions. We use an average of 32 players per season, and I know I will have to call up some players from our U-23.

“I’m really satisfied of the group since the start of the preseason. The boys are working really hard and improving week by week. We are now looking forward the start of the season.”
