Catalans sign Thornley
Catalans Dragons have signed Hull KR centre Iain Thornley on a two-year contract from the start of the 2017 season.
Thornley said: “I am very excited to be joining the Catalans Dragons and doing my best for the team.
“It’s a new lifestyle and culture for me and my family and we are looking forward to it. I just want to thank Catalans for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started ready for the new season.”
Thornley, 25, came through the Wigan Academy before switching codes in the summer of 2010 to join Sale Sharks.
He returned to the Warriors in 2012 and was part of the double-winning team of 2013, playing in both the Challenge Cup and Grand Final victories.
A former England Academy and England Knights international, he joined Hull KR last year.
Catalans Dragons Head coach Laurent Frayssinous said: “Iain is one of the best English centres of his generation and I am really satisfied of his signing.
“This young player will be a great addition to our 2017 squad. His offensive qualities and his versatility will add value to the team.
“He’s got plenty of experience of playing the big games as he played in Grand Final and Challenge Cup final and won those games.”
Club CEO Christophe Jouffret said: “Iain is a young and promising player who has a great experience in the Super League. His versatility and knowledge of the competition will be valuable.”
