Challenge Cup sixth round draw made
The Challenge Cup sixth round draw has been made, involving all the Super League clubs as well as the four Championship teams.
The draw was made live on BBC Sportsday on Monday evening at 6:30pm.
There are four Championship clubs left in this year’s competition – York, London, Halifax and Batley.
At least one of those Championship sides are guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals, with York having drawn London at home.
Halifax have a nice earner in hosting world champions St Helens at The Shay.
Batley, meanwhile, face a tough trip to Craven Park to take on the in-form Hull KR, who are currently sat third in the Super League table.
The Championship quartet will make up the semi-finals of the 1895 Cup – putting them all within 80 minutes of Wembley.
The 1895 Cup final will be played after the women’s and men’s Challenge Cup finals at Wembley on August 12.
There are a couple of mouth-watering all-Super League ties in the sixth round as well. Warrington face a tough trip to the south of France to face Catalans Dragons, the only non-British team to have lifted the Challenge Cup.
The headline fixture of the round is at Headingley, where Leeds will host current Challenge Cup holders Wigan.
The other ties see Castleford drawn at home to Andy Last’s former club Hull FC, with winless Wakefield hosting the newly-promoted Leigh at Belle Vue.
Ian Watson will take his Huddersfield side to face his former club Salford in round six.
The sixth round ties will be played on the weekend of May 18-21.
