Challenge Cup sixth round draw on Tuesday
Former Great Britain and England players Chris Joynt and Keith Senior will conduct the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup sixth round draw on Tuesday, April 25 (from 6.30pm).
The draw will be broadcast live on BBC News Channel’s Sportsday programme.
Joynt began his career at Oldham, who are in round five action against Featherstone Rovers on Sunday, and signed for St Helens in 1992 where he made over 350 appearances for the club.
In 1996, he featured in his first Challenge Cup final against Bradford Bulls, as St Helens claimed a 40-32 victory. The following year, St Helens came head to head with Bradford Bulls once again in the 1997 final and Joynt went on to lift the trophy for a second time as they defeated the Bulls 32-22.
Joynt had to wait seven years before lifting the trophy again, as St Helens defeated Wigan Warriors 32-16 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in 2004.
Joynt is now part of the independent, Match Officials Standards panel which supports the development of officiating in the professional game.
Senior began his career at Sheffield Eagles and played in the very first Super League match in 1996 against Paris Saint-Germain. He made over 100 appearances for Sheffield and featured in his first Challenge Cup final in 1998, as the Eagles defeated Wigan 17-8.
In 1999, Senior signed for Leeds Rhinos and went on to appear in three more Challenge Cup Finals against Bradford Bulls in 2003, Hull FC in 2005 and Warrington Wolves in 2010.
Senior will conduct the draw two days after completing the London Marathon this Sunday, April 23.
The draw, which sees the top 8 Betfred Super League teams from 2016 enter, will be broadcast exclusively live on BBC News Channel’s Sportsday programme from 6.30pm.
