Chambers “can’t wait” for first game as Swinton coach
New Swinton coach Gary Chambers can’t wait for his first game in charge, against Batley on Sunday at the LoveRugbyLeague.com Stadium.
Chambers, who has taken over from Steve McCormack, expects to name a similar team to the one that beat Doncaster 14-6 last weekend.
He said: “I’m not planning to change things too much.
“The lads had a good win against Doncaster last week and they have earned a place in the side.
“It has been a good week so far. The lads have been absolutely brilliant and Ian Watson and Marlon Billy have been guiding me through.
“We’ve got a plan in shape for Saturday and I’m very pleased with how things are going.”
“Batley coach John Kear is a smart guy and we are under no illusions about the challenge facing us. They are in a good position and will be tough to beat but we will focus on our own game and play to our strengths.
“I can’t wait.”
Batley have won five and drawn one of their seven Championship games so far, putting them fourth in the table.
