Championship round-up: Batley beat Widnes, Thornley hat-trick, Woodburn-Hall inspires Halifax
Batley came up with the result of round nine in the Championship.
Batley Bulldogs came up with a fine 20-18 victory over Widnes Vikings at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.
Michael Ward, Joe Taira and Johnny Campbell went over for the Bulldogs. Batley’s Toby Everett was sin-binned in the second half for a foul tackle.
Leigh Centurions beat Barrow Raiders 46-30 at the Leigh Sports Village.
Greg McNally, Sam Brooks, Iain Thornley (3), Adam Swift (2) and Josh Woods crossed the whitewash for the hosts. Leigh duo Stefan Marsh and Joe Cator were sin-binned in the second half for holding down and dangerous contact, while Barrow centre Jarrad Stack was yellow carded for obstructing a restart.
Halifax eased past Rochdale Hornets 48-24 at the Crown Oil Arena.
Steve Tyrer (2), James Woodburn-Hall (3), Will Sharp, Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e and James Saltonstall went over for Fax. Rochdale centre Jack Higginson was sin-binned in the first half for a professional foul.
Bradford Bulls battled past a determined Dewsbury Rams side 20-12 at Odsal.
Dalton Grant, Rowan Milnes and Elliot Minchella scored for the Bulls.
York City Knights were made to work for the two points as they grinned out a 30-20 win against Swinton Lions at Bootham Crescent.
It was a low scoring affair at the State Ernest Argeles as Toulouse Olympique edged past Featherstone Rovers 8-2 on Sunday.
Tyla Hepi scored for the only try of the game.
Toronto Wolfpack thumped Sheffield Eagles 40-10 at the New River Stadium in London.
Chase Stanley, Matty Russell (2), Tom Olbison, Andy Ackers, Blake Wallace and Adam Sidlow crossed the whitewash for the Wolfpack.
Toronto, Toulouse, York, Sheffield and Leigh currently occupy the top-five in the Championship league table.
