Championship round-up: Featherstone beat Halifax, Galbraith inspires Batley, first draw of 2019
There were a couple of surprising scorelines in round four of the Championship.
Featherstone Rovers ran in eight tries to thump Halifax 46-16 at the LD Nutrition Stadium.
Cameron King, Harry Newman (2), Luke Briscoe (2), Jack Render, Luke Cooper and James Lockwood all scored for Featherstone.
Toulouse Olympique were made to work for the two points as they emerged 26-24 victors against Swinton Lions at Heywood Road.
Gavin Marguerite, Dean Parata (2), Con Mika and Mark Kheirallah crossed the whitewash for Toulouse.
York City Knights beat rivals Bradford Bulls 24-14 at Odsal.
Ash Robson, Judah Mazive, Jack Teanby and Matty Marsh went over the Knights, while York winger Mazive was sin-binned in the first half for delaying a restart.
Lewis Galbraith bagged a brace as Batley Bulldogs held on for an 18-12 win over Rochdale Hornets at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.
Wayne Reittie scored Batley’s third try, while Adam Lawton and Lee Mitchell went over for Rochdale.
Toronto Wolfpack grinded out a 14-8 victory against Leigh Centurions at the Leigh Sports Village.
Blake Wallace, Adam Higson and Bodene Thompson scored for the Canadian club. Leigh’s Danny Richardson was sin-binned in the second half for a professional foul.
Barrow Raiders and Dewsbury Rams had to settle for a draw when the score was tied at 20-20 after 80 minutes at Craven Park. It was the first draw in the Championship this year.
Jarrad Stack and Kyle Trout scored two tries each for Barrow and Dewsbury respectively.
Toronto sit top of the Championship table on eight points, while Sheffield Eagles and York are third and fourth with six points.
