Clark hunts first win

Barrow coach Dave Clark is searching for his first win since his return to the club he has now coached on four occasions.

Clark saw his side go down 24-16 against Halifax in his opening match, but will be confident of doing well against struggling Hunslet on Saturday.

Clark said: “We had a blank weekend last week, and that was a bit of a blessing. We’ve put some things in place, I’ve brought in my own philosophies, and we’ve tried to improve the standards at the club.

“There are some quality, experienced players here along with some local guys. It’s a good squad and a good environment to be in, and hopefully we’ll see a change in performance and attitude this week.”

Clark added: “We’ve watched Hunslet’s games against Widnes and Featherstone, and that’s given us an indication of what they offer. We know that any team can win in this division, so it’s challenge for us to reach the standards we want.”

Ned Catic will definitely not play, while Martin Ostler and Liam Harrison are both rated as 50/50 chances.

Hunslet are chasing a first Co-operative Championship victory since late April, but coach Paul March insists: “The boys’ morale is good.”
