Crabtree: Giants not finished yet

Huddersfield prop Eorl Crabtree is keeping his focus on play-off success, even though the Giants have just ended an 81-year wait to finish first in British rugby league’s top flight.

Yesterday’s 40-0 whitewash victory over West Yorkshire rivals Wakefield claimed the League Leaders Shield with a game to spare, but long-serving academy graduate Crabtree insists that Huddersfield’s mission is far from over.

“The important thing had to be getting the two points,” said Crabtree.

“We didn’t go into the Wakefield game thinking it was a Grand Final because it wasn’t.

“But it was all about taking another step on the road to achieving one of the many things we want to achieve at this club.”

As well as the silverware, topping the table gives the Giants a crucial home advantage going into the end of season play-offs.

“We want to go into the play-offs with good momentum behind us and in good form,” said Crabtree.

“So we will be fighting fit and raring to go because we don’t want to slip up after getting this far.”
