Crossley gets Super League chance

Castleford have signed prop Steve Crossley from Featherstone on a two-year deal.

Crossley, 23, made nine substitute appearances in Super League for Bradford in 2010 and 2011, before spending the past three seasons in the Championship – first with Dewsbury on dual-registration, and then the last two years at the Bigfellas Stadium.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to joining the Tigers next year, the chance to go full time again and play in Super League was always a goal I’ve had since leaving Bradford. There’s a few players at the club I’ve played with already with the likes of Liam Finn and Andy Lynch who I look forward to linking up with again.”

Coach Daryl Powell added: “Steve is the next cab off the rank for props in the Championship following on from some outstanding successes in Chris Hill and Alex Warmsley.

“He is big and robust with a skillful attacking game which will fit neatly into how we play. He is a solid defender and as a bloke is perfect for our environment.

“He has some hard work in front of him but he is desperate to perform in Super League and this is a great opportunity for him.”
