Cumbrian derby called off
The traditional Boxing Day clash between Whitehaven and Workington has been called off, as Workington cannot raise a team for the fixture.
The Cumbrian sides, who will once again play in Championship 1 this season, contest for the Ike Southward Trophy.
But Workington have been forced to pull out of the match, due to a lack of players.
One their stand out performers from last season, Darren Holt, has left the club to take up the coaching reigns at Barrow, and he has taken several Town players with him.
Whitehaven fans were looking forward to welcoming new coach Don Gailer, who is looking to build a promotion winning team for 2012.
The game has been re-arranged for January 15th.
