Cunningham adjusting to Championship’s greater physicality
London Broncos‘ recent signing James Cunningham feels that the Championship is a more overtly physical competition than Super League.
The former Hull FC man thinks that it will take him a little time to adjust to the nature of the game as played in the second tier.
“This league is a lot more physical compared to Super League,” he told his club’s official website, following their weekend win over Whitehaven.
“People might not believe it but it is, there’s a lot more collisions which I’m trying to get use to. It’s a difficult transition actually but I’ll come through it.
“It’s great to be back and we got the win, that’s all that matters. We we were a bit off and we made hard work of it, no disrespect to Whitehaven but we were capable of putting in a better performance, we weren’t at our best.
“It was my first game back in four or five weeks so I’m glad to come through it without picking up an injury.
“Hopefully on the back of the win we can go into the Dewsbury game on a bit of a high. ‘Hendo’ ( Head coach Andrew Henderson) said next week is again a must win game if we want to get in the top four and all the boys are working hard for that.”
