Featherstone Rovers have revealed that Darrell Griffin has joined them, signing a two-year contract.

The 34-year-old former England international has played for Wakefield, Huddersfield, Leeds and Salford in Super League.

“I am delighted to have been able to bring Darrell to Featherstone as he will add another dimension to our pack,” said Rovers coach Jon Sharp, who worked with Griffin at Huddersfield.

“I signed Darrell from Wakefield Wildcats when I was at Huddersfield where he developed in to an England international. He has a fantastic work ethic, trains very hard and looks after himself.

“I remember at the Giants he would also do extra training sessions and I know this is something he has carried on throughout his career since our time together.

“He brings experience to our front row and his dedication to the sport will benefit some of the younger members of our squad who will be able learn from Darrell both in training and on the field.

“He is a leader of the pack and I am looking forward to seeing Griffin in a Featherstone Rovers shirt in 2016.”

Griffin himself is looking forward to working with Sharp again, this time in the Championship.

“Jon is a great coach and I really enjoyed my time with him at the Giants where I significantly improved under his coaching,” he said.

“I was still relatively new to rugby league when I joined Huddersfield and a bit raw but I really developed under his guidance. He is very smart and technical and I am looking forward to working with him again at Featherstone.

“I know a few of the boys here and I am really impressed with the facilities that we have, the Stadium is fantastic and the Centre of Excellence is the best facility I have seen in rugby league and I was really surprised when I looked around them.

“It is important we utilise these facilities and under the leadership of Jon, I think the club is really going places and I want to be a part of that.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the blokes better and working hard in pre-season as we prepare for an important season.”
