Daryl Powell head coach of Castleford Tigers in a training session at the The Mend-A-Hose Jungle on the morning he announces he will leave the Yorkshire club at the end of the 2021 season.

Castleford coach Daryl Powell says he will not be distracted when he faces future employers Warrington on Saturday.

Powell will replace Steve Price in the Wolves hot seat at the end of the season after eight years in charge at his hometown club.

Fate has also seen the two sides paired in the Challenge Cup semi-finals next month, while this weekend’s Super League clash is crucial for both after suffering home defeats on Monday.

He said: “I’m Castleford Tigers coach at the minute and the scrutiny doesn’t really mean anything to be honest.

“It’s about the team that I’m coaching at the minute doing a job on the field, I’m not going to get side-swiped by that.”

Castleford have already beaten Warrington this season, 21-12 in the first round at Headingley.

Several Tigers players are being linked with a move across the Pennines, though none have yet been officially announced.
