Daryl Powell: ‘We still believe we can do something this year’
Warrington boss Daryl Powell believes his side can still achieve success in 2022 despite a rollercoaster of a season.
In a rollercoaster season at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, the side have claimed just seven wins from 18 in Super League so far.
However, the side do remain just four points from the play-offs, with a crucial clash with Castleford this weekend.
The Wolves fell to a five-game losing streak mid-way through the year, but two wins in their last three have reignited their season hopes.
Daryl Powell: ‘We want to achieve something this year’
“It’s been a rollercoaster. That is something that it has been,” Powell told Love Rugby League. “But the one thing that rugby league players are, they’re battlers, aren’t they? They never give up on anything. And that’s the same for us as coaches.
“We want to achieve something this year. We feel like we were building something special. And sometimes it takes time.
“But at this moment, we still believe we can do something this year.

“And you have to get in the top six to be able to do that. And it’s still there for us. We’ve got to believe that we can do it. This game [Castleford] is pivotal.
“We have to get out there and show that we can back up a really good effort with another one.
“If we do that, then we give ourselves some real momentum. I think that’s the key for us at the moment, to build some momentum and get us moving in the right direction, which I think we are.
“I think there’s a lot of things we’ve been doing recently that will help that.
“I’m really confident, really positive and looking forward to what we’re going to be able to do in the coming weeks.”
