David Mead suffers season-ending injury
Catalans star David Mead will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his eye socket as well as his cheekbone.
The Papua New Guinea international had scans to determine the extent of the injury after sustaining the blows in the first half of their 24-6 defeat to Hull KR on Saturday.
Scans have discovered that Mead has fractured the base of his eye socket as well as suffering a small fracture in his cheekbone.
The 30-year-old will not require surgery but he will miss the Dragons’ final two league games against Wigan and Huddersfield.
