Doncaster winger David Scott is proud of what his club achieved last season, and is now hoping that the Dons can have a decent crack at reaching Super League next season.

The Stirling-born Scotland international also believes that working with Paul Cooke and the rest of the coaches at Doncaster has helped him develop as a player.

“At Doncaster, no one expected us to do what we did this season,” Scott told Love Rugby League.

“To finish fourth was a great achievement. Obviously we just fell a couple of hurdles short.

“We had too many injuries and ran out of steam, it was a couple of games too far.

“On a personal level I think the team atmosphere at Doncaster has been great. It’s helped me develop.

“The coaching staff there have been first class and I’ve really enjoyed working alongside them.

“If the opportunity came up to go full-time with Super League club, then it would be a dream come true – it’d be awesome.

“But with the new league structure next season, who’s to say that Doncaster can’t get in the top four and have a shot at the top flight.

“We’ll be doing some recruitment in the off-season, and bringing in some new players as well as retaining some players, so I’d like to think we’re going to have a strong squad next season.”

Scott’s focus now turns to the European Championship with Scotland. He feels lucky to have some familiar faces from his days at Hull KR alongside him in the Scottish squad.

Sonny Esslemont, Adam Walker and Jack Stewart have all been called up from the Robins.

“I travelled across for Scotland‘s first training session the other day with Sonny,” he said.

“Me and him when we played together were good mates, and we still keep in touch and talk to each other.

“It’s nice to see him and Adam Walker, who I know from the Scotland camps and see around Hull.

“So it’s nice to see those familiar faces.”
