Davies taking chance at Wigan
At the start of this season few people outside of Wigan will have heard of Tom Davies.
The winger has had to bide his time and fight his way through to first team selection and even started 2017 out on dual-registration at Swinton.
Since being handed his first team debut against Huddersfield a few weeks ago however, he continues to go from strength-to-strength with regularly impressive Opta stats.
The Super League Round 11 clash against Catalans was his seventh first team appearance and he scorched away for two tries, making it four at first team level for the season.
“He’s going well, he’s took his chance – I’m really pleased for him, he’s done it the tough way,” said Warriors’ assistant coach John Winder.
“He’s a bit of a late developer – he came through the system and put in some good performances for Swinton and, as with any young kid at this club, if they are doing the right things off the field and they are doing some good things off the field then they will get a chance.
“His two finishes against Catalan took some finishing, especially his second one. (Tony) Gigot is a fair full-back and for Tom to be able to go around him, it was a fair effort.”
