Demetriou pinpoints Sice threat
Keighley Cougars coach Jason Demetriou has highlighted Whitehaven hooker Carl Sice as a key threat ahead of Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One fixture at Cougar Park.
Demetriou said: “Whitehaven like to generate game-speed, and Sice at hooker troubles all teams.
“David Seeds has got a good team together, and it’s a massive game on Sunday. We’re going to have to concentrate hard.”
He added: “For the first time in a long while we’ve got a fully fit squad. That’s very good news, because it puts some pressure on the blokes who do get the shirt to make sure they perform.”
In contrast Whitehaven coach David Seeds will check the fitness of 11 players during Thursday night’s training session.
Craig Benson (quad/knee) is definitely out, with Chris Smith (stomach) among those who needs checking.
Andreas Bauer returns from a spell with Pia in France and comes into immediate contention.
Seeds said: “Keighley are going well and they’re a very similar team to Swinton. They grind wins out.
“They’re very methodical and disciplined, they’ve got a big pack and Jason Demetriou makes a difference as well.”
