Dewsbury sign young Wigan half-back on loan

Dewsbury have signed half-back Lewis Heckford on an initial one month loan deal from Wigan.

Heckford, 20, is a product of the Stanley Rangers community club and a former England Youth and England Academy international.

Rams boss Neil Kelly said: “We are delighted to sign Lewis. He’s a good player who will help us in the next few weeks.

“He has a lot of quality and energy about him, and we felt we needed to bring someone in as both Gareth Moore and Paul Sykes are still struggling with injuries.

“We are looking forward to working with Lewis.”
