Disciplinary: Jack Cogger has ban increased on appeal
Huddersfield half-back Jack Cogger has had his two-match ban increased to three matches following a failed appeal.
Cogger was initially given a two-match ban for sliding in with his knees during their defeat against Warrington on Saturday.
He was charged at Grade C, and that is what he challenged. However, the disciplinary tribunal felt as though it was a frivolous appeal in light of what they regarded as a “highly reckless act.” He was also given a £500 fine.
Cogger will now miss the Giants’ Super League matches against Wakefield and Wigan, as well as the Challenge Cup semi-final against Hull KR.
Halifax forward learns fate after early red
Halifax Panthers forward Jacob Fairbank has been given a five-match ban after being found guilty of Grade E striking.
Fairbank pleaded guilty to the offence, but challenged the grading. He was sent off inside a minute of their win over Bradford on Good Friday.
However, the panel found the grading to be correct and handed down a five-match suspension to Fairbank. He has also been given a £250 fine.
London pair also face Disciplinary Tribunal
London Broncos academy players Tommy Porter and Euan Parke have both been given a three-game suspension by the tribunal.
The pair were involved in a two-player dangerous throw during their academy defeat against Warrington on Easter Saturday.
They both pleaded guilty to the charge, but challenged the grading. However, once again, the tribunal found the Match Review Panel’s initial grading to be correct.
Accepted charges
The panel also confirmed the following players had accepted their charges and subsequent penalty notices.
James Bell, St Helens – Dangerous contact (Grade B) – 2 matches
Chris Hill, Huddersfield Giants – Dangerous contact (Grade B) – 1 match
Benjamin Julien, Catalans Dragons – High tackle (Grade A) – 0 matches
Tui Lolohea, Huddersfield Giants – Tripping (Grade B) – 1 match
Josh Reynolds, Hull FC – Other contrary behaviour (Grade B) – 1 match
