Disciplinary: Three Championship players referred to tribunal

Leeds forward Tom Holroyd, Newcastle half-back Jake Shorrocks and Workington half-back Ciaran Walker have all been referred to the disciplinary tribunal following this weekend’s Championship matches.

Holroyd, who was playing on dual-registration for Bradford, was sent off, along with Newcastle’s Shorrocks after a coming together during Bradford’s 36-20 win over Newcastle.

Shorrocks has been charged with a Grade F Striking Offence, while Holroyd has been given a Grade F charge of Punching. The panel say Holroyd ran in and threw a punch that made contact with the head.

If found guilty, the pair are facing bans of at least eight matches.

Meanwhile, Walker has been referred following Workington’s defeat at Leigh on Sunday. He has been charged with a Late Hit on the Passer. For this, he has been charged at Grade D.

Batley player also given penalty notice

Batley hooker Ben Kaye has also been given a two-match penalty notice. He was given a Grade C charge for a Dangerous Throw during Batley’s win over London.

Meanwhile, Hull academy forward Lennon Bursell also received a ban. Bursell was given a one-match penalty notice for a Grade B trip during their game against Castleford.

The only other ban was for Castleford Women’s player Ellie Sykes, who was also given a one-match penalty notice. She got hers during their Women’s Super League match against Featherstone.

Trio also hear from Disciplinary

West Wales forward Kian Fisher was charged, but not banned by the disciplinary panel for Dangerous Contact during the Raiders’ defeat against Hunslet. He was charged at Grade A.

Also given a Grade A charge was Workington’s Glenn Riley. He was charged with the same offence at Grade A.

Finally, Newcastle full-back Craig Mullen was also given a caution for Other Contrary Behaviour. He attempted to throw a punch, but it didn’t connect.
