Dobson still has respect for Dragons
Hull KR’s Michael Dobson explained how his short time at Catalan Dragons kicked started his career.
The Australian was loaned to the French outfit in 2006 from Canberra Raiders as a replacement to the renowned Stacey Jones. The halfback impressed in Perpignan was his natural ability and this proved a springboard for his career, as Wigan Warriors came calling, where again he proved to be a key player.
Dobson explained to us how grateful he was for his time at Catalan. He said, “My time at the Dragons was massive, at the time I was only a youngster training with the first team at Canberra Raiders.
“I learnt my trade at the Dragons from Stacey Jones and it was a massive learning experience. I am very grateful for his help.”
The former Wigan player said how much an influence the Kiwi had on his playing style. He said, “Stacey Jones was a big influence on my career. He was such a great scrum half and to just be around him was a really big help. Enjoyed working every minute with him.”
Dobson, a product of the Raiders, will face his former employers this coming Sunday with Hull KR coming off the back of a four game win streak.
