Duo pen new deals with St George Illawarra Dragons
Fiji international Joe Lovodua and prop Josh Kerr have signed new one-year deals with St George Illawarra Dragons.
Hooker Lovodua, 21, has yet to make his NRL debut but has already earned six caps for his native Fiji, being part of their World Cup squad in 2017.
Director of rugby league pathways and list management, Ian Millward, said: “He’s a real multi-skilled player Joe; it’s hard to put your finger on what his position is.
“He can play centre, five-eighth, hooker and in the back-row, but has really shown he’s capabilities at number nine especially when representing Fiji.”
Front-rower Kerr, 23, made his NRL debut earlier this year and has played seven first-grade games so far. He has also represented the Indigenous All Stars.
Millward added: “He’s not only the fastest forward at our club over 40 metres but statistically he has one of the quickest play-the-balls in the NRL, which is why we had opposition from other clubs trying to sign him.
“He’s at a stage now where he should be putting his hand up and demanding a first grade spot.”
The Dragons have also announced that winger Jason Saab has been promoted to the club’s top 30 squad ahead of the 2020 season.
