A former Lebanon international has been banned from rugby league for life for assaulting a match official.

Mohamed Jamil was found to have assaulted a referee on August 17 while playing for Immortals RLFC at a tournament in Balamand University, north Lebanon.

The global sanction has been supported by both the RLEF and RLIF.

Jamil, a 26-year-old centre, played for Lebanon in their 20-14 win over Serbia in 2008, scoring a try, and also in the 80-0 defeat to Russia in the same year.
