Ex-Widnes forward Alex Gerrard joins Mackay Cutters
Former Widnes front-rower Alex Gerrard has joined Queensland Cup outfit Mackay Cutters for the 2019 campaign.
The 27-year-old left the Vikings following their relegation from Super League at the end of last season.
Gerrard came through the ranks at Widnes and played over 100 games for the club after making his debut back in 2010.
On signing Gerrard, Cutters’ coach Steve Sheppard commented: “We are looking for him to fill the void left by Jordan Grant.
“Alex is 27. He has got a lot of experience, is a workhorse and a champion bloke. We are really happy to have him on board.”

Gerrard follows in the footsteps of ex-Widnes team-mate Lloyd White, who has also joined the Cutters for 2019.
