Fantasy RL: Picking your team – top full backs
Ahead of the new season, we’ll be looking at options for your Fantasy Rugby League team in all positions in both Super League and the Championship.
First up, it’s the first position in the team and a key one at that – full back.
Warrington’s Stefan Ratchford is the most expensive full-back in Super League priced at £225k, which may not turn out to be good value if he doesn’t kick the goals for the Wolves in 2017.
Behind him, there are five players priced at £200k.
Superstars Ben Barba and David Mead are set to rip it up at St Helens and Catalans respectively, while Morgan Escare is set to make the number one jersey his own at Wigan.
Hull’s Jamie Shaul is a prolific try scorer, while you can also choose Super League’s top try scorer Greg Eden at full back, as well as on the wing. Eden scored a massive 250 points in Fantasy RL in 2017.
In the Championship, two of the stand out players in the league could be chosen at full back. Toulouse’s Mark Kheirrallah scored a massive 386 points in the game in 2017, while Craig Hall returns to the competition with Leigh (both £70k).
With full back being such a key position, it’s unlikely you’ll want to sacrifice your number one jersey for a bargain.
Widnes youngster Olly Ashall is available for £50k, but likely to be at least third in the pecking order at the Halton Stadium.
More attractive bargain options might be Warrington’s Mitch Brown or even ex-Wolves youngster Will Dagger, who will be wanting to make a name for himself at Hull KR (both £75k).
In the Championship, London Broncos starlet Alex Walker might be a shrewd pick up at £20k, as is Rochdale’s Richard Lepori, especially following the retirement of Miles Greenwood which will likely put more weight (game time and points) on Lepori’s shoulders.
