Featherstone hunting third straight league triumph
Featherstone are just two wins away from a third consecutive Championship League Leaders Shield, as they prepare to face Sheffield on Thursday.
Daryl Powell’s men make the trip to South Yorkshire knowing a win would mean victory over Keighley in front of their home fans on the final day of the season will ensure they finish top of the pile.
Rovers have won 14 of their 16 league games to date, including last weekend’s 86-12 thumping of Swinton – although one of their two defeats so far was against the Eagles in the reverse fixture.
Powell said: “Six points would get the job done, so we’ll go to Sheffield and focus.
“They beat us at home, so we know they’re a tough side, but we’ll try to get the result against them. That would give us a great opportunity to finish top of the tree.”
“We’ve talked about starting to enjoy ourselves again. We’ve been under a bit of pressure, but we chilled out and the performance was there for all to see.
“We got a more relaxed, more composed performance, and that’s what we needed.
“We’ve got high standards and we want to achieve this season. To be able to do that we’ve got to play right on top of our game and there are not many games left, so that’s narrowing our focus.”
Featherstone have lost just five league games in the past three seasons, and lost just one in the whole of the last campaign.
