Featherstone have signed Warrington prop Gavin Bennion on a one-year loan deal.

Bennion, 19, is no stranger to incoming Rovers coach John Bastian, having worked under him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Bastian said: “Gavin has huge potential and spending a year at Featherstone will undoubtedly help his development, progression and aid him in realising his potential.

“I like his attitude and he possesses all the personal qualities that we are looking for in all our players including those already at the club and the new signings we have made recently.

“I would personally like to thank Tony Smith and Warrington Wolves for their cooperation in allowing Gavin to join us for 2014.”

Bennion spent time in the Championship last season with Swinton on dual-registration.

He has represented England at Under 18s level, and toured Australia in July 2012, playing two matches.

Bennion said: “I am excited about joining Featherstone Rovers and experiencing a different environment to what I have been used to in my fledgling career so far.

“At Featherstone, I am looking not only to improve my game and become a more rounded player but also personally become a more mature character.

“I am familiar with John Bastian as well as Ben Hellewell and James Mendeika who has also recently joined Rovers which will help me settle in at the club quickly.”
