Flanagan named as Hunslet captain
Hunslet head coach James Coyle has today appointed George Flanagan as his new club Captain.
Flanagan, who was voted Supporters Player of the Year and joint Players Player of the Year last season, recently signed a two-year contract committing his future to the club.
The 29-year old hooker made 22 appearances in 2016 scoring 14 tries and kicking two goals.
Coyle said: “George has thrown himself into training. He’s been leading from the front in every aspect of our pre-season.
“His attitude towards the changes has been great and I think he deserves to lead the team at this exciting time.
“He was the natural choice and I’m sure if the other players were asked he would have been the favourite among the squad such is the respect he has within the group.”
Current Welsh International halfback Danny Ansell and former club captain Liam MacKay have been appointed as vice captains for the 2017 Kingstone Press League 1 campaign.
