Football boss anticipates viewing “proper man’s game”
Gillingham FC Manager Andy Hessenthaler admits he is a rugby league novice, but cannot wait to see the Broncos face Hull FC.
The Broncos are moving their home game against the black and whites away from the Twickenham Stoop to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium in an attempt to expand their fan base.
The London club changed their name from Harlequins back to London Broncos ahead of this season, and as part of the rebranding the Broncos are set to take several games on the road away from the Twickenham Stoop.
The first will be at the home of Gillingham FC, and Hessenthaler is relishing taking in a different sport at the football ground.
He said: “I’ve been at Gillingham for a long time on and off and it’ll be nice to see rugby out there.
“I’ve not really seen any live rugby before, so it’ll be nice to sit down and watch a game of rugby.
“I do like rugby. It’s fast, it’s flowing, there are not too many stoppages in it and they get on with it. It’s a proper man’s game rugby, not like football.”
