Former Catalans outside-back Brayden Wiliame joins NRL club
Former Catalans outside-back Brayden Wiliame has joined New Zealand Warriors on a two-year deal from the 2023 season.
The 29-year-old is currently plying his trade in the elite French rugby union competition with Perpignan.
A nine-time Fiji international, Wiliame made 77 Super League appearances with Catalans across a three-year stint. He originally made his debut in the NRL with Parramatta Eels in 2013, before going on to feature for Manly Sea Eagles until his move to France in 2017.
He returned Down Under in 2020 with St George Illawarra Dragons, and has almost 50 NRL games to his name.
“We’re thrilled to secure Brayden Wiliame,” said Warriors GM recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden.
“We look forward to the experience he’ll bring to the squad as well as the added versatility he offers the coaching group.”
Ava Seumanufagai released
Canterbury Bulldogs have confirmed that Ava Seumanufagai has left the club to pursue another opportunity. The 31-year-old former Leeds forward had been contracted with the NRL club for 2023. He was left out of the side’s top 30 announcement earlier this week.
Now, the Bulldogs have officially confirmed his release.
“Ava brought great energy and experience to Belmore. He was a leader amongst the younger players and was someone who always led the way in terms of his attitude at training and desire to improve,” said CEO Aaron Warburton.
“The Bulldogs would like to thank Ava for guiding his teammates and for his work ethic and contribution to our Club. We wish him and his family all the best for their future endeavours.”
