South Wales Scorpions have signed former St Helens junior Greg Wilde on loan from North Wales Crusaders.

Wilde, 20, moved to Crusaders over the close season having progressed through the academy set-up at Langtree Park, and he will be eligible for selection for the Scorpions’ league clash with Gateshead on Sunday.

Scorpions coach Mike Grady said: “We still have a few injuries so it’s great to have this boost ahead of Sunday. We’re delighted to be setting up this link with our friends in the north and we hope to field a few more of their players on loan in the near future.”

Utility back Wilde is likely to be the first of a number of loan signings between Wales‘ two professional clubs, now that the clubs are more closely linked with the Scorpions being run by the Wales Rugby League governing body.
