Four players banned from Wigan clash with Leigh
Four players have been given suspensions following the fiery derby clash between Wigan and Leigh on Sunday.
Wigan pair Brad Singleton and Oliver Partington and Leigh duo Jack Ashworth and Rob Butler have all received bans following the fight between the Warriors and Leigh.
Singleton has received the highest ban with a three match penalty notice for his involvement in the fight during Sunday’s Super League clash, while Partington has received a two match ban.
Ashworth and Butler have also been banned for two matches.
All players were charged with a Grace C punching.
Ashworth and Singleton were both sent from the field on the 15th minute following the fight, and it was the hosts in Wigan who went on to claim the 50-6 victory, with 9,206 in attendance at the DW Stadium.
Adrian Lam’s side sit fourth in the Super League table following the victory, bouncing back from their 21-8 away defeat to Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. The clash also saw 2019 Dally M second-rower of the year John Bateman return for the Warriors, while Umyla Hanley scored his first senior hat-trick.
Sam Halsall also scored his first Super League try in the second half.

The club also re-signed half-back Joe Mellor to a new contract for the 2022 season.
Elsewhere, Hull FC hooker Jordan Johnstone has received a one match ban for a Grade B dangerous contract, while Warrington’s Jack Hughes has received the same ban.
