France 4-42 Australia

Australia qualified for the Gillette Four Nations Final at Elland Road with a 42-4 victory over France in Paris.

Twins Brett and Josh Morris each claimed a brace of tries, while Michael Jennings posted a hat-trick.

The Kangaroos will face England in the final on Saturday night.

Australia led only 8-0 at the half-time interval thanks to two Jennings touch downs: the first came after twenty minutes, the second, set up by Darren Lockyer, just before the half-hour mark.

Luke Lewis opened the second-half scoring just after the restart, forcing his way past several defenders on the way to the line, Kurt Gidley converting.

Brett Morris added his pair of tries to the total, Lockyer setting up both efforts, the first with a long pass and the second with a well-placed kick.

Gidley improved Morris’ second before Thurston added his first goal by converting Jennings’ hat-trick score.

France finally got onto the scoresheet when Thomas Bosc’s high kick was touched down by Olivier Elima, but by this time the home side were destined to finish this Four Nations campaign empty handed.

All that remained was for Josh Morris to emulate his twin brother with a brace of his own, Thurston converting both tries for Australia to pass the forty-points mark.
