French prop signs for Hemel

Hemel Stags have signed French forward Romain Navarette from Limoux.

Navarette, 19, made 15 appearances in the French Elite Championship last season, and follows team mate Maxime Herold, who has recently joined London Broncos, to the UK.

Stags Head Coach Troy Perkins said: “I am really happy to have Romain on board. He is a young prop with plenty of potential and after watching some footage of him I know he will do a god job for us. He has a good frame, carries the ball well and is really aggressive.

“He was at Limoux last season where he played plenty of first grade with former Superleague stars Clint Greenshields and Casey McGuire as his team mates. I have spoken to his coach Karl Temata and he had plenty of good things to say about him. 

“Romain wants to challenge himself in a new environment and play a good level during the French off season and hopefully this leads to a good link between Hemel and Limoux in the future.”
