Giants hit by Mamo injury blow
Huddersfield’s full-back Jake Mamo has been ruled out for up to six weeks after suffering a foot injury.
The 23-year-old has scored 12 tries in nine Super League appearances after signing for the club from the NRL’s Newcastle Knights.
Giants’ boss Rick Stone told the BBC: “He’s got a significant ligament strain or injury to his foot and it’s going to keep him out for at least a month, possibly even six weeks.
“It’s a significant injury and a big blow to our team. Jake’s been a revelation since he’s been here – he’s sparked our team in the right direction over the last couple of months.”
“It’s hard to replace a bloke like Jake. We’ve got Jordan Rankin not too far away, although he won’t be available for this week.
“He still hasn’t got his visa – we’ve got him on standby to fly out that night as soon as he gets it, but he hasn’t managed to come up with it as yet.
“He might be here late in the week if he gets his visa, but he won’t be taking part in this week’s game.
“Darnell McIntosh has done a decent job at full-back when he’s played there – Lee Gaskell’s played there as well, so we’ve got a few options.
“All we can do is pick what we think is the best player for the position on the day and move forward and put some confidence around them and give them a chance to perform.”
