Giants pair target centuries
Huddersfield pair Lee Gilmour and Danny Kirmond both want to rack up a ton of appearances for the Giants, as they both prepare for their 50th game for the club on Sunday.
Gilmour, signed from St Helens for the 2010 season, and Kirmond, who arrived from Featherstone, are likely to feature against Crusaders at the weekend, in the Giants’ final “on the road” home game at The Shay before returning to the Galpharm Stadium.
Gilmour, who previously played for Bradford and Wigan, has recently signed a two-year contract extension at the club. He said: “It’s nice to get to fifty games, but getting to one hundred games for a club is quite a big achievement and I’m looking forward to doing that with the Giants. I’ve just extended my stay here so things are looking good on that front.”
Kirmond, 25, has established himself in the first team picture this season, having spent a spell on loan at Wakefield last season. He arrived at the Galpharm Stadium ahead of the 2008 season having scored 41 tries in 73 appearances playing on the wing for Championship side Featherstone.
He said: “I’d love to get to one hundred games for the club. Whichever club you’re at, you have to take it one game at a time and in the future I’d like to rack up as many games as possible for the Giants. I’m enjoying life at the club and there are a lot of faces around now who are here for the future as well which is also really good for the club going forward.”
