Sheffield have announced that Peter Green has agreed a new one-year deal at the club.

Green, 31, joined the Eagles from South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster back in 2009 and enjoyed some good form in 2013 as he managed three tries in 30 appearances

The forward’s new deal will see him remain at the Championship champions until the end of the 2014 season.

Speaking of the re-signing, head coach Mark Aston said, “I’m delighted Peter has agreed to stay at Sheffield Eagles. He has been one our stand out and consistent performers this year.

“A lot of the work he does during a match goes unnoticed and is rock solid in defence. In our play-off win away at Halifax, he made over 50 tackles and wasn’t even on the field for the full 80 minutes.

“I’m really looking forward to working with him again and pleased he’s penned this new deal.”
